Amphitheatrically developed on a prime coastal plot in the idyllic bay of Syvota, the “Atlas + Pleione” project offers luxurious, eco-friendly accommodation that captures the essence of life in a traditional fishing village, one of Lefkada’s most picturesque settlements. The villas emerge dramatically from the rocky landscape, spanning 400 sqm, complemented by two 25-meter pools and another with a counter-current system and waterfalls. Inspired by Greek mythology, this exquisite project harmonizes modern architectural aesthetics with traditional charm, promising an unparalleled experience in the Ionian paradise.
The famed archaeologist and architect Wilhelm Dörpfeld lived on this popular island for many years, tirelessly trying to prove, among other things, that Syvota is the port of Phorcys from Homer’s Ithaca as described in the “Odyssey.” This beautiful story inspired the design and name of this residential paradise on the stunning Ionian island, named after the mythical couple Atlas and Pleione – the parents of the Pleiades and the Homeric nymph Calypso, whose name was given to the guesthouse.
“Atlas + Pleione” is an impressive complex of energy-efficient underground residences, meticulously executed by the construction company Eclede. Founded by civil engineer Vasilis Siafarikas, who has extensive experience in designing and constructing luxury homes in Athens and tourist destinations across Greece, and mechanical engineer Nikolaos Zachariou, Eclede acquired the specific plot and, together with civil engineer Thomas Valavanis, mechanical engineer Vasilis Mastrogianis, and G Architects, designed and addressed all the technical requirements of the ambitious project. “Our company executed this high-expectation project flawlessly, with absolute consistency and detail, characterized by complete respect for the environment. It was one of the projects we loved and made us proud,” say Vasilis Siafarikas and Nikolaos Zachariou.
The villas, dramatically emerging from the rocks, span 400 sqm and are framed by two 25-meter pools, while an additional pool in the complex excites with a counter-current system and waterfalls. As for the residences, they stand out for their unique environmental and architectural design, interior height, and functionality.
The energy-efficient and large aluminum frames, marble bathrooms, and all the natural materials used to shape the spaces are some of their impressive features. Built at the entrance of the bay with views of the islets Arkoudi and Atokos and the vastness of the Ionian, the villas fully harmonize with the natural landscape of Lefkada while skillfully combining modern architectural aesthetics with the traditional air of the Syvota settlement. The hallmark of the complex is its minimalist aesthetic, use of natural and luxurious materials, energy approach, and masterful lighting.
Particular emphasis was placed on the interior design, exclusively curated by Eclede, resulting in a project showcased by international decoration magazine titles. The main axes here are natural materials, luxurious design, and functional use. Besides the selection of high-design furniture from renowned companies, most of the furniture decorating the interior spaces of the residences is custom-made, implemented by Eclede’s Nikolaos Zachariou and Vasilis Siafarikas in collaboration with Alexandros Kharkoftakis. The walls of the residences are adorned with paintings by prominent artists, such as the distinguished Greek visual artist Philip Tsiaras, who excels abroad.
The “Atlas + Pleione” project represents the largest sale ever made on the island of Lefkada by Greece Sotheby’s International Realty.
